About reference managing software

Reference management tools such as EndNote have basically three types of functionality:

  1. Add references (manually or from different sources) to a database
  2. Edit / arrange references
  3. Exporting references from the base in various formats (possibly in collaboration with a word processor)

The different programs have somewhat different functionality and focus, but these are variations on a common theme.
In general, the more you pay, the more functionality you get. Particularly searching in external bases from the program and interacting with word processors is well developed in the more expensive variants. Some of the options for global change will also be reserved for the most advanced.
